3V Chemical

3V Chemical

Sherman Baxley, Storeroom manager for 3V Chemical has worked hard over the past 28 years to improve reliability and reduce downtime at his plant. As the previous maintenance manager and now storeroom manager, he has a keen insight about how to inventory parts to maintain plant up time. His maintenance background and tremendous knowledge of the plant operations makes him an invaluable resource at 3V Chemical and an asset to Tencarva and ITT Goulds Pumps. The plant has replaced many original pumps over the years standardizing on the ITT Goulds product. This standardization has reduced the company's cost for spare parts and potential downtime.
American Sugar Refining Inc.

American Sugar Refining Inc.

Manuel Caballero, Maintenance Manager at the American Sugar Refinery located in Baltimore, MD was instrumental in driving a project to replace older, heritage pumps with current state-of-the-art slurry pumps manufactured by ITT Goulds Pumps. The Model XHD slurry pump was chosen to provide improved reliability, reduce energy consumption and reduce seal water consumption. One Goulds Model XHD was able to replace the production of three existing pumps while maintaining the critical flow rate and pressure needed for this critical process in the Refinery.

Manuel was instrumental in engineering and managing this upgrade from conception to operation as part of a Florida Crystal Corporate mission to improve equipment reliability, reduce energy usage and to reduce water consumption in their refineries. The pump also uses a Goulds i-Alert2 condition monitor, which provides 24/7 vibration and temperature data to maintain trends on this critical piece of equipment. This one service is an example of how today's technology can improve both the reliability and reduce the cost of ownership in the process industry.

The American Sugar Refinery in Baltimore opened in 1922 and has been in continuous operation manufacturing various grades of cane sugar most notably under the Domino Sugar brand name on the east coast of the United States. The refinery is known in the region for the iconic red, solar powered neon Domino Sugar sign which proudly lights up evening sky in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor area. The 120 ft. x 70 ft. sign has been a landmark in Baltimore since April, 1951 welcoming visitors and unifying the many residents as a source of pride to all that live and work in the Baltimore region.

Kinder Morgan - Southeast Terminals

Kinder Morgan - Southeast Terminals

Kinder Morgan Terminal in Selma, NC has been a long time partner with Tencarva Machinery Company. That partnership continued and expanded during a recent Ethanol Railcar Offloading and Pipeline Project. The project consisted of offloading railcars offsite and transferring the product through a new pipeline via three Goulds 3700 pump packages. The pumps are controlled by a PumpSmart Triplex Engineered Panel to protect the pumps and increase reliability from upset process conditions. The ethanol is transferred to two of Kinder Morgan's Storage Terminals where they are again distributed to various locations for blending and tank transfer at other terminals with five Goulds 3196 pump packages. Alfredo Castano, Project Manager and Brian Pilkington, Terminal Superintendent at Kinder Morgan - Southeast Terminals worked closely with and Tencarva to specify the equipment. Tencarva looks forward to working with Kinder Morgan in the future on other terminal expansion projects in the Southeast US.
Martin Midstream Partners

The Martin Beaumont Neches Terminal is a Storage Terminal for Anhydrous Ammonia, Asphalt, Sulfur, and Sulfur related products. James Alford, Terminal Manger and Tommy Broussard, Asst Terminal Manger have worked with Saladin Pump & Equipment to improve their overall pump reliability and incorporate pump best practices. Their most recent success was from standardizing on Goulds 3171 Sulfur Pumps for their Molten Sulfur unloading applications.
Mosaic Potash, Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan

Mosaic Potash, Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan

Jolean Somogyi, Process Engineer for Mosaic Potash sought assistance from Industrial Fluid Consultants to perform a full system and energy analysis on a disposal well with a ruptured well casing. The well is being fed by a Goulds model 3620 L 10x12-17S-C. This analysis provided Mosaic the cost savings of unnecessary retrofit costs.
Resolute Forest Products

Resolute Forest Products

Stephen Goodman, Reliability Engineer for Resolute Forest Products worked at a paper mill that was expanding into the tissue market. He was involved with the system design and was responsible for being on site when all 75+ pumps were commissioned. He worked 12 hour days for three months to get the pumps up and running. In the end, the pumps ran on their curve, no seals were lost, and vibration levels were low.

Robert Semidey and Roberto Divita

Robert Semidey and Roberto Divita

The ITT PumpSmart medium voltage variable speed pump solution implemented at the VOPAK Banyan terminal in Singapore is not only a showcase installation for ITT but also a great example of how our employees deliver a premier customer experience. The Commissioning of the three PumpSmart units and vertical turbine pumps required deep knowledge of pump operation and pump control. Having Roberto Divita, PRO Solutions Specialist (Monitoring &Control) and Robert Semidey (Chief Monitoring & Control Developer) on site was the perfect combination to address all the challenges that arose during commissioning. Roberto’s technical expertise with pump systems helped VOPAK optimize their pump operation. Roberto went above and beyond to make this a successful installation by helping with electrical rewiring, excellent project management and managing customer expectations extremely well. With Robert Semidey’s programming expertize they effectively customized the system on site to overcome many unexpected challenges that weren’t accounted for in the consultant’s design. One example is the integration of the custom flow control valve logic into the PumpSmart which maintains pump operation close to maximum efficiency. The programing took a large amount of site time and effort. Despite major set-backs along the way, Roberto and Robert were able to deliver the required solution. After learning what the system needed to do, they persisted under heavy customer pressure and delivered a solution unlikely to exist anywhere else in the world, all the while being adaptable to any site in the world. All this was achieved in very hot and humid conditions and challenging working conditions and not much pump liquid to test with. Roberto and Robert had to literally sweat it out to get there, putting in up to 14 -18 hours a day! An outstanding effort by these two individuals resulting in an outstanding solution and an extremely satisfied customer.

Trans Markets

Trans Markets

Keith Santi, President of Trans Markets has been able to place four SLH-4G-6000 series pumps into an orange juice production line. The first 6000 series pump was installed over a year ago and replaced two competitor pumps, which means it was doing the job of two pumps. The pump is extremely smooth running, no pulsations, no pressure spikes, and what is best, it does not damage the pulp of the orange juice. Once the manufacturer realized how well the pump was running, they decided to add three more of these pumps to their systems. That means, in total, 4 Bornemann pumps have replaced 8 competitor pumps in the facility.
Valley Proteins

Valley Proteins

William Davis, Maintenance Manager, David Norris, Maintenance Supervisor, David Martin- Maintenance Supervisor, Steve Lester, Plant Manager, Deb Fedoronko, Purchasing Manager and Jim Frasier, Pump Repair Technician at the Rose Hill Division of Valley Proteins have long been a partner with Tencarva Machinery Company working together to solve demanding pumping applications. With a recent expansion of the Rose Hill facility, the throughput of sludge and grease were increased. Many new pumps were installed in very tough applications involving high temperature, abrasiveness, and corrosiveness. Tencarva Machinery Company and the hard working staff of Valley Proteins identified certain pumps that required material or performance upgrades to increase reliability and other pumps that could be commonized to reduce overall inventory and keep the plant running. The plant runs 24 hours a day and Goulds Pumps play an important role in keeping the facility at peak performance.
